Came across this letter today and after I cracked up, because let’s face it, it’s hilarious, I thought… hmmm… creative learning opportunity? My students love hands-on science experiments, so I love to have activities that match other learning styles incorporated with our experiments. What if, on one of their experiments, they chose to write a letter from one ingredient or part of the experiment to another? Hmmmm… A letter from water to a comb? Letter from cartesian diver to the person operating the bottle? A letter from the egg to the match? Each component in the experiment will have a different perspective!
After a day in the lab with an experiment, a little research, and understanding, it might be fun to write these letters! Let students be clever, inventive, and creative as they come up with their own ‘letters from the lab.’ Students like to draw? Let them create a comic strip about the experiment. Either way, they’re reflecting on what happened, learning, AND having fun.
