Maybe I Am Crazy

I can’t get this video out of my mind.  I showed my students today and I asked them, what does it take to be so crazy about something that you just don’t care what other people think?  A hand raised, “Passion.”  They GET it.   Our jobs are not about the day to day recording of grades.   They are not about writing down standards or attending meetings.  They are not even about keeping our desks organized. Our jobs are about the future.  We inspire the next generation of “Crazy Ones” from within the four walls of our classroom.     So what does it take to change the world?  I suppose if we all sit back and “wait” then we know what the end result will be.  We cannot accept the “status quo” in education any longer.  It’s time for us to move forward.   It’s time to embrace creativity. Invite innovation into our classrooms. Let kids lead you. Will you be seen as “crazy”?  Maybe.  But nobody can take away your passion for teaching and that is all that matters.
