Since tomorrow is Thanksgiving, I thought I would think about what I am thankful for in education… so while I pass the mashed potatoes, the steaming bowl of gravy, and get ready for that slice of pumpkin pie, here is what I am most thankful for as a teacher:
1.) A safe place to teach each day.
2.) Supportive administrators & colleagues.
4.) A PLN on Twitter that continues to inspire me and push me to grow.
5.) I am still learning new things after 10 years of teaching.
7.) The researchers who have paved the way helping me figure out how to meet kids needs in the classroom.
8.) The access to technology that can help make learning come alive for kids.
9.) A family who always supports me in my career.
10.) Notes from kids that remind me of a teacher’s purpose.
So, what’s on your list? Education is full of issues, politics, and stuff that detracts from our goals. But, we can be thankful for the amazing, awesome, and wonderful parts of our jobs and realize we are pretty lucky afterall.
